They’re just words. Unless they’re in an obit

August 22, 2010

Context is everything.

Consider the way some words are innocuous most of the time, but you wouldn’t want them to appear in a report of your death, or the obituary of someone you care about. For example, you don’t want your obit to mention any of these 10 words:

* Farmer

* Craigslist

* Clown

* Trunk (in any sense of the word)

* Undiscovered

* Sausage

* Pet

* Vat

* Elephant

* Fireworks

    Who’s Craig and why is he always listing things?

      Yeah, perhaps I could call this blog “Elizabeth’s Lists.”

      But that is way too hard to say when you’re drunk.

    Wouldn’t it be fun to see an obituary that had all 10 of those words. I might want to take that on as a challenge to see if I could get them to be used in mine.
